Domaine Vincent Ledy

2017 Domaine Vincent Ledy Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Porets Saint Georges

Burgundy, France
In stock

Vincent is an upcoming star on the Burgundian winemaking scene. What might be even more impressive than his wines’ overall quality is that he is a true self-made vigneron. He has done everything himself, step-by-step, vineyard-by-vineyard, wine-by-wine. What an artisan! Vincent produces two cuvées of this wine – this wine and a separate one with only the oldest vines of the vineyard. We love both of them, though his straight Porets St. Georges is more open and will require less cellaring. Brimming with juicy Morello cherries, roasted coffee beans and chocolate, its velvety tannins easily enrobe the palate while its sappy freshness leaves you wanting more.

Domaine Vincent Ledy

Nuits Saint Georges, Cotes de Nuits, Burgundy, France

The first impressions of Vincent are his energy, passion, and good humor. He and his family reside in Nuits-Saint-Georges, where the winery is located. Created in 2007, the first wines released in 2013. While Vincent does not come from a winemaking family, only through his extended family, he worked many years for the respected Domaine Lecheneaut. The Estate is only 3.5 hectares producing eight different wines, with vines in Bourgogne Rouge, Chorey-Les-Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Hautes Cotes-de-Nuits, Nuits- Saint-Georges AC, and 1er Cru Les Porrets St. Georges. Since its inception, Vincent tends the vineyards organically. In 2018, he started the process of being Ecocert certified by 2021. In the vineyard, everything is done traditionally, including by horse to plow his oldest vines (planted in 1935) in Porrets St. Georges. In the winery, Vincent uses whole cluster on most wines. He never inoculates, chaptalizes, or acidifies and adds no sulfur during vinification (only at bottling). He despises new oak, all the barrels are between 2 and 6 years old, and the wines are all aged for 18 months with no soutirage (unless necessary). Few winemakers have the absolute talent to produce such cerebral and intense wines with concentration and purity. They are raw, profound, classic Burgundy. Already compared to Madame Leroy, or Confuron-Coteditot, his natural wines are authentic “Vins de Terroir” with power, depth, structure, and high-toned ageability.Martine’s Wines is the U.S.A. exclusive importer for the wines of Vincent Ledy.
